Biomass-based Innovative Material of Energy Storage and Environment Remediation

Due to biomass being eco-friendly, non-fossil, renewable, available, low-valuable from a wide variety of sources, the development and utilization has always been a fashionable research topic for designing functional materials, especially the areas of innovative materials in energy storage and environment remediation, etc. Biomass resources have been usually focused on wood, bamboo, residues of forestry & agriculture, municipal solid waste, animal wastes, waste from food processing and aquatic plants and algae, which are widely applied to meet a variety of needs. The basic ingredients (such as lignin, hemicellulose, cellulose and so on) and the pore structure characteristics of biomass sources are god-given and multifarious, and it is important to investigate the utilization of the components and hierarchically porous structure. This topic is going to concentrate on some efficient utilizations of biomass and the potential industrialization in energy storage and environment remediation, and the existing problems and challenges could be discussed. Hence, high-performance advanced functional materials are expected to be well designed for accelerating the high-valued and new utilizations of biomass material. The subject areas may include, but are not limited to: reaction & transfer mechanisms, computational and theoretical analysis, properties of interfaces, fundamental properties in energy, nanomaterials in environment, advanced biomaterials controlling water quality, novel approaches monitoring and risk assessment, critical reviews or discussion on energy storage and environment remediation, etc. The topic isn’t going to accept articles previously published or scheduled to be published.
